Only two weeks ago, I lamented about the silence of the Robert Koch Institut (RKI) on Covid vaccine efficacy matters. And now the numbers are back! Here’s some basic facts and first findings:
There’s a new landing page.
Reporting will henceforth be monthly instead of weekly.
Efficacy against symptomatic infection is not being computed anymore; they cling to hospitalisations, ICU occupancy, and deaths only.
The DIVI figures are back as well, now also distinguishing between three and more than three doses.
And this is my previous diagram on vaccination rates among ICU patients, with the new data points added:
The new RKI data point (for weeks 20-23) is at 63%, quite an increase from the previous 52%. Note that it has been computed as 31 (vaccinated patients) / 49 (patients). I have no idea how the 49 have been chosen from the 5823 patients the DIVI counted for that period.
The DIVI figures for weeks 23-26 are 86% for one shot or a previous infection (up from 84%, four weeks ago), 82% for two doses or more (up from 77%), and 70% for three doses or more (up from 52%).
This is going to get interesting.
Hi CM,
I've written a post about the drop in German births. I think it could be primarily driven by a dramatic fall in weddings during the first pandemic year. Would be interested to hear any feedback.
