The Covid summer wave is approaching Germany’s shores, and the usual suspects are recommending masking (since the abolition of mandatory masking at the beginning of April, 7-day case rates have dropped from 1,500 per 100,000 to 200 per 100,000; now we are approaching 500 again) and, of course, boooosting. Here’s the case rates and vaccination rates (1st to 4th jab) by state:
Correlations between case rate and n-th dose vaccination rate are 63.7%, 60.6%, 78.4%, and 81.2%. Corresponding rank correlations are 75.0%, 72.6%, 82.1%, and 82.6%.
Oh, forget it. Ice cream of the year in Germany is Stracciatella with Rosemary. Stracciatella is a classic in Gemany: milk ice cream with hot chocolate added during the mixing process, which will harden when coming into contact with the cold ice, and be broken into splints by the mixing machine. Rosemary is, well, herbage, and an interesting ingredient. I will have to try.
Correlations one week later: 67.5%, 66.7%, 84.8%, 84.8%
Rank correlations: 79.2%, 79.8%, 87.3%, 87.6%
